DR. REMONIA CHAPMAN
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DMF
Remonia A. Chapman, a native Detroiter and a beacon of health advocacy, currently leads the Gift of Life Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP) and serves as the Executive Director of the Detroit MOTTEP Foundation. Her illustrious career also includes her impactful role as the past president of the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT). Under her visionary leadership, Gift of Life MOTTEP and the Detroit MOTTEP Foundation have been recognized nationally, garnering numerous awards for their critical role in elevating organ donation awareness and rates within Michigan. Chapman's tenure has been marked by transformative community engagement, earning Gift of Life MOTTEP accolades as a model program for its robust partnerships and empowering community collaborations, which include ties with the Michigan Eye Bank, American Cancer Society, and the National Marrow Donor Program. A committed servant to her community, Chapman's extensive background includes pivotal roles such as Regional Coordinator for Multiplan, Inc., and Project Coordinator for cancer screening initiatives at Karmanos Cancer Institute. Her service extends through a labyrinth of influential organizations, including the National Association of Health Service Executives, Donate Life Coalition of Michigan, and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s Detroit Leadership Committee. Furthermore, her commitment shines in her volunteer work with the NAACP, Detroit Public Schools Community Health Council, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and more. For 18 years, she has also devoted herself as a deacon at Detroit’s Hartford Memorial Baptist Church. Chapman's educational accolades are equally impressive, holding a Bachelor of Science in biology and psychology from Wayne State University, complemented by post-graduate studies at both Wayne State and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, as well as graduate studies at Ecumenical Theological Seminary and Harvard University’s Divinity School. Remonia Chapman's life and work epitomize the spirit of service and leadership, making substantial impacts that resonate well beyond the borders of her community.
